On Monday, June 1st, 1992, Supply and Services Canada replaced the Procurement Opportunities Board (POB) with the Open Bidding Service (OBS) and BIDS was there... establishing an account for the purpose of:

1. Accessing the database in order to provide our BIDSearch^smelectronic bid-matching service to our clients; and

2. Obtaining bid documents on our clients behalf, freeing them from the capital expense of maintaining pre-paid accounts of their own.

And there were more changes to come...

On October 27th 1997 the Open Bidding service was replaced by MERX -- Canada's Electronic Tendering Service.

MERX gives us access to thousands of procurement opportunities from the federal, provincial, municipal governments, as well as hundreds of universities, hospitals and school boards across Canada.

With over 1500 open procurement opportunities on any given day. MERX is the largest centralized electronic tendering service in Canada and the only source of federal government opportunities.
